Urban Forest Strategic Plan

Boulder's youngest residents studied trees this school year in order to provide recommendations to the City of Boulder Parks and Recreation Department's Urban Forest Strategic plan.  Preschoolers from Boulder County Head Start and infants through preschoolers from Boulder Journey School learned about, observed, and interacted with local trees.  Our under 5 population and their teachers shared their ideas through an in-depth exploration of trees via the poster (below) displayed at a March 2017 public event.  Please visit the City's website for more information on the project.
*Growing Up Boulder (GUB) is Boulder's child-friendly city initiative. A formal partnership between the City of Boulder, Boulder Valley School District, and the University of Colorado, GUB became a nonprofit in spring 2021 under the fiscal sponsorship of the Colorado Nonprofit Development Center (CNDC). Since 2009, GUB has worked with over 7,500 children and youth on more than 100 projects.
