Living Lab

Living Lab Pilot with Public Housing

How do we make neighborhoods more walkable and playable?
On July 9, 2015, GUB met with children ages four through twelve at the Kalmia housing site, in partnership with GO Boulder, Boulder Housing Partners, Youth Services Initiative and I Have a Dream.  The following summarizes the ideas of 11 children.  This is very preliminary work to get an indication of how children use spaces, how they move about, and how we can make public housing neighborhoods more walkable and playable.
What parks do you go to?  And how do you get there?

1. Scott's Carpenter Park (walk)

2. Elk's Park

3. Parkside Park (walk)

4. Recreation Center

How many of you bike?

6

How many of you bus?

7

How many of you walk?

7

How many of you have been to the North Boulder Recreation Center?

11 - everyone (and about 75% take Iris to get there)
