North Boulder Park
Rennovation

Teen-Led Engagements for North Boulder Park

In the spring and fall of 2025, Growing Up Boulder partnered with the City of Boulder's Parks and Recreation department to engage teens in shaping the future of North Boulder Park through a new and highly effective model: hiring paid teen consultants. These youth led focus groups, designed engagement activities, and gathered input from more than 50 of their peers—resulting in insights adults would not have surfaced on their own. Teens prioritized full-court basketball and volleyball, creative hangout spaces with options for their own hammocks and creative (and nighttime) lighting, water features, upgraded core facilities, and preserving the park’s open feel for self-organized play. Their recommendations directly influenced the park’s evolving design, demonstrating the power of youth expertise in creating community spaces that truly work for them.  For more details about the project, click on the buttons below.
