Chautauqua Park Improvement Project Fall 2025
A Collaboration between Flatirons’ Elementary School, the City of Boulder's Open Space and Mountain Parks Department, and Growing Up Boulder
|
On September 29, 2025, Growing Up Boulder and Open Space and Mountain Parks staff engaged 43 fourth and fifth grade students from Flatirons Elementary School to gather their recommendations for improving Chautauqua Park. Students participated in interactive activities at the Ranger Cottage and trailhead, sharing their perspectives on what makes the park special and how it could be an even better park for locals and visitors alike. Each activity included exploration of the space, reflecting on what they liked about the space and how the space could be improved. Students participated in Visual Preference Surveys and adults scribed ideas offered in discussions. The activities proved to be engaging and students in both classes appeared to be invested in offering their ideas for the improvement of the park.
