Growing Up Boulder has partnered with the Youth Services Initiative and photographer Rebecca Stumpf to initiate a Neighborhood Photovoice project.  Youth Services Initiative is an after-school and summer program of the City of Boulder Parks & Recreation Department that serves youth in Boulder's public housing communities.  Through the project, middle school youth learned photography skills and take field trips to their own and their peer's neighborhoods and homes to photograph the places where they live.  Through photography discussions, critiques, and written word, youth  also developed literacy skills and life skills in learning to voice their lived experiences and desires.  The photovoice project began in January, 2013, and is on display through May, 2013, at the North Boulder Recreation Center.  After May, the exhibit will go "on the road" to public places to expand youth voice.
