Inside the Greenhouse's Work with Youth on Resilience

Included here (below) are instructions for five artistic activities (projects) for young women to contribute to their city’s plan for resilience. These were developed by Beth Osnes and Rebekah Anderson through a collaboration with Inside the Greenhouse.
In these examples are opportunities for young women to share their perspectives, needs, and contributions to increase their city’s capacity for resilience.

About Beth Osnes and Rebekah Anderson:

Beth Osnes is co-founder and co-director of Inside the Greenhouse, an initiative at the University of Colorado (CU) that inspires creative climate communication. She is an associate professor of Theatre and Environmental Studies at CU. She researches how to use theatre as a tool for women to empower their own voices for participation in their own sustainable development. She recently toured an original musical production Shine for youth engagement in city resilience planning to Boulder, New York City, New Orleans, London, and Malope (South Africa) in conjunction with the Rockefeller Foundation 100 Resilient Cities Initiative.

Rebekah Anderson is a former professional photographer in the Bay Area, now using photography as a tool for empowerment and engagement for communities in the Navajo Nation, Namibia, India, Nicaragua, and Boulder, Colorado.
*Growing Up Boulder (GUB) is a child-friendly city initiative and partnership between the City of Boulder, Boulder Valley School District, and University of Colorado's Community Engagement Design and Research (CEDaR) Center.  Our programs have been including young people in city decision-making for more than 10 years.
